Planting Asparagus Crowns

Drying out the crowns after shipment.
Planting a bed of Jersey Supreme (2 yr. old crowns)

Alltogether we planted three beds of asparagus. Two beds of the larger, healthier looking Jersey Supreme, and one of Purple Passion.

Preparing a bed for planting Purple Passion Asparagus

Planted densely to ensure successful growth.

We put two hundred crowns in the ground last Thursday. Planted sunchokes and horseradish in front of the herb garden.

We have also been staying busy planting golden currants, buffalo berries, sumac tree, and some nanking and chokecherries.

Kale, Spinach, Radishes, Beets, Carrots, Scallions and Cilantro are all coming up in beds all over. Spring is windy as hell. Enjoy.
